Hydro Nation Scholar, Bas Buddendorf has just had a paper published in the Ecological Inidicators journal, entitled: Spatio-Temporal Effects of River Regulation on Habitat Quality for Atlantic Salmon Fry. This paper demonstrates value of developing process based understanding of flow regime effects, that flow regulation effect on salmon fry habitat quality is spatio-temporally complex, that flow rules need to consider seasonal flow preferences of conservation species and that caution is needed when using discharge variability as habitat quality indicator.
